Toyota Hilux fuel Gauge Faults

If you’re having problems with your Hilux fuel gauge, take it into Bob Mol Motors

Are you having a problem with the fuel gauge on your Hilux? The top three most common issues are…

  • The fuel gauge is stuck on full. Making you think you have a full tank when you don’t.
  • The fuel gauge is stuck on half-full. Either making you think you have fuel when you don’t or that you don’t when you do.
  • The fuel gauge is stuck on zero.

Does your toyota hilux fuel gage stay on full?

One common problem with the Hilux fuel gauge is that it can become stuck on full. Despite how it might look, this does not mean that your fuel tank is eternally full.

As you can imagine, this can cause problems when you wrongfully believe that your fuel tank is full. Instead of realising that you need more gas, you could be convinced that you already have plenty, which can make it even more frustrating should you run out whilst on the road.

If you’ve noticed that your fuel gauge always tells you that you have a full tank, even when you know you don’t, you should take it in to be looked at.

Does your toyota hilux fuel gauge stay on half full?

Another problem with the Hilux fuel gauge that many of our customers have is that it’s always stuck on half full. This can cause one of two main problems.

Firstly, just like the previous section, you might believe it has more fuel than it actually does. You can run out of power, despite being under the impression it still has half a tank.

On the other hand, it can also make the driver think it needs topping up when it doesn’t. Drivers can try to fill up the tank when it’s already full, which can have messy consequences.

Does your toyota hilux gauge not move at all?

And the final issue with the Hilux fuel gauge is that it can be stuck at zero. Even when you put fuel into the tank, the gauge will not recognise it.

There are two possible causes for this problem. Firstly, it could be an issue with the fuel tank. There may be a blockage, preventing it from going where it should. But the more likely cause of the problem is that there is something wrong with the fuel gauge.

No matter the cause, if the fuel gauge is stuck on zero, take it in, and we’ll sort it out for you. Did you know that in some states in Australia, running out of fuel can mean a fine. (on toll roads, privately operated in Victoria) – see link here
